Vispala Technologies has won the NCPEDP - Mphasis Universal Design Award 2021 for its 3D printed prosthetic product called iGrip.
Kolkata – October 25, 2021- Vispala Technologies, a leader in additive manufacturing, recently won the Mphasis Universal Design Award 2021. This prestigious award is presented by NCPEDP (National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People), a non-profit voluntary organization that empowers people with disabilities.
The aim of the award is to spread awareness of “Universal Design” that accommodates the needs of people with disabilities regardless of their age, ability, or circumstance. To popularize this goal, NCPEDP, in association with Mphasis, introduced the annual NCPEDP - Mphasis Universal Design Award in 2010. These awards are given to organizations that make significant contributions to the lives of people with disabilities.
This year Vispala, an Indian medtech startup, won this award for its excellent iGrip design. Vispala is recognized for affordable prosthetic products that are easily available to people with upper limb mobility impairment. iGrip provides superior performance at the time of usage and requires minimal force to operate.
Arman Ali, Executive Director of NCPEDP pointed out that the pandemic has taught us the importance of accessibility as a fundamental right. “Access to information is particularly important as people with or without disabilities navigate through the new normal in today’s times,” said Mr. Ali. “We are thrilled to honor Vispala for designing a body-powered hand prosthesis called 'iGrip' and serving the underdeveloped areas that need it the most," Mr. Ali added.
"We are delighted to receive NCPEDP-Mphasis Universal Design Award 2021”, said Mr. Dipak Basu, CEO of Vispala. We are dedicated to making the most comfortable, affordable, and usable prosthetic devices accessible to all patients".
